RULES & REGULATIONS

1. KINGs Village is the first International Drag King contest in Italy and will take place in Rome from July 10th to July 12th.

2. The aim of KINGs Village is to promote and circulate Drag King expression in Italy, encourage interaction among performers coming from different countries and act as meeting point for people interested in such expression.

3. It is promoted by “Kings of Rome” and “Di’Gay Project” and will be hosted by the most important LGBT event in Rome, Gay Village 2008.

4. KINGs Village is open to both individual and group Drag King performers.

5. Three prizes will be distributed according to the jury's final and unquestionable decision in the following way:

· First prize: 1.200 € to the best Drag King performance
· Second prize: 800 € to the second best Drag King performance
· Third prize: 500 € to the third best Drag King performance

6. Admission to the contest is free.

7. Admission deadline is postponed to May 31st 2008. After that date applicants will be accepted on an on-going basis to fill positions as they may become available.

8. Each participant (individual or group) is required to prepare two performances, one for the preliminary night and one for the final night (in case they pass the preliminary).

9. Performances should not exceed 5 minutes in duration.

10. At the moment of arrival at the festival, each participant is requested to deliver one copy of the CD to the organization containing two tracks, one for each performance. All music and sound has to be already mixed and ready to play.

11. PROGRAM of the contest:

· July 10th opening of the festival, first day of preliminaries
· July 11th second day of preliminaries
· July 12th Finals and closing of the festival

12. To apply to the contest, participants are required to send (no later than 31st May):
· application form correctly filled out in all its parts and signed (download form)
· biography of the artist
· description of the performances
· technical requirements for both performances
· video and photos
· any promotional material (demo or press releases)

13. Registration is subject to acceptance of the condition that all materials received (including video and photo) remain deposited to the Festival’s Archives and that permission is granted to the Festival to use them for educational, research, or promotional ends, also in places and context other than the festival, excluding commercial use.

14. ACCOMODATION: all drag kings participants who passed the selection requirements will be guaranteed accommodation in private houses.
